Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a vehicle allegedly failed to stop for officers late Tuesday night in Wallaceburg.
Police say officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign near Dufferin Avenue and Arnold Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 10, 2026. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was last seen travelling westbound toward Walpole Island.
“The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to advise the public that failing to stop at a stop sign puts everyone on the road at risk, including other motorists, pedestrians and cyclists,” police said in a statement. “Stop signs are in place to control traffic flow and prevent collisions at intersections. Drivers are reminded that they must come to a complete stop, ensure the intersection is clear and proceed safely.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
