On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Dorothy ‘Auntie Dot’ Peters (Altiman), a member of Walpole Island First Nation, left us peacefully at her home to be reunited with her beloved husband Ronald Charles ‘Gaazhik’ Peters (2023) at the age of 73. Loving mother of Nevada (Melanie), Richard, Romaine (Rueben) and a cherished grandmother of Nevada Jr., Jordan, Emma, Waylon, Alyssa, Waawyaase, Evangelo, Robert, Aarolee, Jessica, Danez, Stephanie and Angelina. Daughter of the late Lorrine and Cabac and a dear sister of Bertha Altiman, Jennifer Clayton and the late Urla “Penuts”, Alan “Shanks” and Paula. Dorothy is fondly remembered as Auntie Dot to many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Community visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231) from 4-7pm. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Walpole Island Sports Complex beginning at 12noon.
