Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police say one driver was charged with impaired driving during a recent enforcement campaign aimed at reducing impaired driving.
During National Impaired Driving Prevention Week, officers conducted 13 Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) programs and stopped approximately 1,000 vehicles.
Police said one driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving-related offences. Officers also issued one roadside sanction, two seven-day driver’s licence suspensions and nine Provincial Offence Notices under the Highway Traffic Act at RIDE checks.
Police say impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of serious injury and death on roadways and are urging motorists to plan ahead for a safe ride home. Anyone who suspects an impaired driver is asked to call 911.
