Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 70-year-old Ridgetown man is facing charges following an intimate partner violence investigation in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said officers responded to a residence at about 2:58 p.m. on March 23, 2026. Investigators determined a physical altercation had taken place between the accused and a 63-year-old woman from Chatham.
Police said further investigation revealed multiple historical assaults involving the accused. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by emergency medical services.
The accused was arrested and charged with assault to cause bodily harm — choke, suffocate or strangle, and assault. He was released with a scheduled court date of May 19, 2026.
