Harold Edward “Ted” Westbrook will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and deeply caring man whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He had a rare gift for bringing light, warmth, and colour into people’s lives—just as he did through his beautiful artwork and his lifelong passion as a florist. Through his work as founder of Westbrook’s Flower Shoppe, Ted not only built a business, but created a place that brought joy to the community he loved.
Ted had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and he truly brought a smile to every room he entered. His compassion, and generosity touched countless lives, and his legacy will live on through the many people he inspired.
At the heart of Ted’s life was the deep love and devotion he shared for 56 years with his lifelong partner, John Thompson. Their story was one of enduring love, meaningful adventures, and a life beautifully shared.
Beloved son of the late Eva Westbrook (late Olav Anderson) late Mike Westbrook, brother of Richard (Bonnie) Late Phillip (Nelly), a cherished nephew, cousin, uncle and great uncle to many.
Together, Ted and John created a family of their own, becoming father-like figures to Mark (wife Janice), and proud grandparents to Danielle (Jeff, Dallas, and Kinley) and Michelle (Bill and Ozlo).
Ted held dear friendships with David & Vicky, Sharon & John, Brad & Moira, Kym & Paul, William & Teri, Kevin & Irene, Nancy, Eleena, past and present staff of Westbrook’s, and many others who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
He found great joy in love, companionship, and the simple moments that made life meaningful. His handmade cards—each one created with care—will always be treasured by those lucky enough to receive them.
Eleena, whom he fondly admired, is continuing his legacy through Westbrook’s Flower Shoppe, carrying forward the work that meant so much to him and made such a difference in the community.
Ted will be dearly missed and forever remembered. To have known him was a gift—he was a remarkable man whose presence, creativity, and kindness made the world a more beautiful place.
