Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 46-year-old Wallaceburg woman is facing multiple charges following a motor vehicle collision and alleged impaired driving incident.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a collision at Main Street and Margaret Avenue on March 31, 2026, at approximately 5:29 p.m., where one of the involved vehicles had fled the scene.
Police say the vehicle was located minutes later at a residence on University Drive with visible damage consistent with the collision. Officers observed a woman near the vehicle who allegedly refused to identify herself or comply with police directions. Open containers of alcohol were also observed inside the vehicle.
Investigators say the woman showed signs of impairment and was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further testing. Police allege she refused to comply with a lawful breath demand despite multiple attempts.
She has been charged with failure to stop after an accident, obstructing a peace officer, operation while impaired, mischief under $5,000, refusal of a lawful breath demand, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. She is being held for bail.
