Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service says a 17-year-old youth is facing an assault charge following an incident in downtown Chatham.
Police say officers on general patrol observed a large group gathered near the intersection of Princess Street and King Street East at approximately 4:52 p.m. on April 9 and believed an altercation was underway.
Officers activated emergency equipment and observed a 17-year-old youth assaulting another 17-year-old male, both from Chatham. Police say the accused was on top of the victim, repeatedly striking him in the face.
Officers intervened and arrested the accused, who was charged with assault. The youth was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a court date of June 17, 2026.
