Driver charged with impaired after traffic stop in Bothwell

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 43-year-old man from Dawn-Euphemia is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop.

Chatham-Kent police say officers stopped a vehicle April 12 at about 12:43 p.m. near Main Line and Cairo Road. During the investigation, officers formed grounds to believe the driver had consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device test resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and taken to headquarters, where breath samples registered above the legal limit.

He was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court May 26, 2026.
