Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 55-year-old Chatham man is in custody following an alleged shoplifting incident and multiple breaches of court-ordered conditions.
Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a retail store on St. Clair Street at about 7:22 a.m. on April 30 after loss prevention reported an individual concealing merchandise.
The suspect was located in a nearby parking lot and arrested. Police said the man was bound by two Form 11 release orders and a probation order prohibiting him from attending the location.
A search incident to arrest allegedly uncovered additional items.
The man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
He faces charges including two counts of failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with a probation order, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
