The Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Chatham-Kent Health Alliance are advising residents of holiday closures and service adjustments for Victoria Day on Monday, May 18.
Municipal offices and most services will be closed for the holiday, while emergency services including police, fire and ambulance will continue operating 24 hours a day.
All municipal arenas, libraries, waste depots, leaf and yard depots and most arts and culture facilities will be closed Monday. Transit services through Ride CK will not operate and curbside garbage collection will be delayed by one day for the week.
Public health offices, EarlyON programs, Employment and Social Services, Housing Services and most administrative municipal offices will also be closed for the holiday.
Some recreational services will remain available, including public swims at Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.
The municipality said road, water and wastewater emergency services will continue to operate as needed during the closure.
Meanwhile, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance said some health-care services at its Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be altered for the holiday.
Emergency departments at both hospital sites will remain open 24 hours a day and hemodialysis services will continue operating. Some outpatient diagnostic tests will also proceed as scheduled.
However, several outpatient and administrative departments will be closed Monday, including ambulatory care, outpatient rehabilitation, pre-surgical screening, outpatient lab services, diabetes education, health records and patient appointment offices.
The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions outpatient department and Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine clinic will also be closed. Residents experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis are being directed to call the crisis line at 1-866-299-7447 or visit the nearest emergency department.
Hospital officials said Elston Pharmacy, oncology and chemotherapy services, the business office and cashier’s office will also be closed for the holiday.
Regular operations for most municipal and hospital services are expected to resume Tuesday, May 19.
