Federal funding supports Wallaceburg manufacturing growth, local economic development says

Wallaceburg manufacturers are among Chatham-Kent businesses benefiting from a major federal investment aimed at strengthening advanced manufacturing, boosting innovation and improving competitiveness in a shifting global economy.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent says several local companies are receiving support through more than $20 million in funding announced under the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario’s Regional Tariff Response Initiative, which is supporting eight businesses and organizations across the London and Chatham-Kent regions.

Wallaceburg-area recipients include Select Finishing, which is receiving $250,000, alongside other Chatham-Kent manufacturers AarKel Tool & Die Inc., Five Star Tool and Die Ltd. and Ritch-Meyer Machine & Tool Inc.

The funding is intended to help businesses modernize operations, adopt advanced technologies, strengthen supply chains, and increase productivity while supporting long-term growth and job creation.

Chatham-Kent economic development officials say the investment reinforces the region’s industrial strengths, particularly in communities like Wallaceburg where manufacturing continues to play a key economic role.

“These investments are important for helping local businesses adapt, expand, and remain globally competitive,” said Stuart McFadden, director of economic development and tourism services for Chatham-Kent. “Chatham-Kent continues to demonstrate strength in advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation, and this funding will support these companies as they invest in new technologies, improve efficiency, and position themselves for long-term success.”

Municipal officials say the funding reflects continued confidence in Chatham-Kent’s manufacturing sector and its ability to compete in evolving global markets.
