Chatham man charged in intimate partner violence investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 42-year-old Chatham man is facing charges following a reported intimate partner violence incident in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said officers were contacted on June 3 at approximately 11:14 a.m. by a woman reporting a historical assault.

According to police, the woman reported that she was tackled to the ground while attempting to contact police after unwanted contact from a man with whom she was prohibited from communicating under court-ordered conditions.

The woman suffered minor physical injuries, police said.

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and facilitating a breach of a release order.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
