Next time you visit us, make sure to check out our brand-new outdoor exhibit: the propeller from the historic steam tug, the Frank Moffatt!
Built in 1869, the Frank Moffatt was a hard-working tug on the St. Clair River. It certainly had a dramatic history, first making news in July of 1883 when it collided with and sank a passenger ferry, the Grace Dormer. Just two years later, in 1885, a tragic boiler explosion completely destroyed the ship.
We are so excited to bring this incredible piece of maritime history into the light where it belongs. Come check out the new display! 🚢⚓
