OPP urges drivers to remain vigilant as ‘Stop. Look. Live.’ campaign concludes

The Ontario Provincial Police is reminding motorists to continue practising safe driving habits at intersections following the conclusion of its Stop. Look. Live. campaign.

The awareness campaign focused on educating drivers and addressing behaviours that contribute to preventable collisions. Police said the dangers associated with intersections remain long after the campaign ends.

“Every life lost on our roads is one too many. These tragedies are preventable, and every driver has a role to play in keeping our roads safe,” said Staff Sgt. Julie McLeod of the West Region OPP Traffic and Marine Unit.

The OPP is encouraging drivers to come to a complete stop at stop signs, carefully check for traffic before proceeding, ensure roadways are clear and remain focused behind the wheel by avoiding distractions.

Police said taking a few extra seconds at an intersection can make the difference between life and death and help ensure loved ones return home safely.

The OPP said the message behind the campaign remains unchanged: Stop. Look. Live.
