LKDSB celebrates Canadian Multiculturalism Day

The Lambton Kent District School Board marked Canadian Multiculturalism Day by recognizing the cultural diversity that shapes its schools and communities.

In a statement, the board said multiculturalism is reflected daily in classrooms, hallways and school communities through learning opportunities that celebrate different cultures, languages, traditions and perspectives.

The board said those experiences help students develop empathy, curiosity and respect while preparing them to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

LKDSB said multicultural education also helps break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and build meaningful relationships among students from different backgrounds.

The board encouraged students, staff, families and community members to reflect on the many cultures that contribute to Canada’s diversity and to continue fostering inclusion, understanding and belonging.
