Wallaceburg man faces multiple firearms-related charges after Tilbury traffic stop

OPP officials allege: A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing multiple firearms-related charges following a traffic stop in Tilbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police said members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit, the Lambton County Detachment Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit executed a warrant following a traffic stop in Tilbury on July 7.

The accused has been charged under the Criminal Code with operation while prohibited, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, failure to comply with a release order other than to attend court, carrying a concealed prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and resisting a peace officer.

Police said the accused has been remanded into custody until July 27.
