With sadness we announce the passing of Sharron Oliphant, a resident of Wallaceburg, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the age of 87 years.
Sharron was born in Dresden, Ontario and a daughter of the late Don and Mabel (Mitchell) Hanson.
Beloved wife of the late James “Hugh” Oliphant (2001).
Loving mother of Monica (Ed) Debusschere, DJ (Shelley) Oliphant, Pam (the late Laverne) Hobden, Dave (Cheryll Bautista) Oliphant, and the late Becky
Sadly missed by her grandchildren Melissa, Greg, Sarah, Kyle, Alicia, Josi, Drew, Stephanie, Tanya, Josh, Nathan, their spouses and 25 great grandchildren.
Kind sister of Shirley Parrot, Marilyn Osborne and Buck Hanson.
When you talk about a life well lived, love is often mentioned as the main event. You know, when in your last moments that your life was well lived by the people who stand beside you, those who loved you most.
Our matriarch and head of our family left us Friday evening to join her beloved Hugh, and Becky and the family that came before them.
Family was everything to Sharron. She lived for the family gatherings that filled her home to capacity, the quiet visits with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and enjoyed afternoons spent playing cards and dominoes with dear friends.
Her quiet strength and resilience got her through personal tragedy, times of strife and sadness and turned her into our rock, the shoulder we leaned on and the biggest cheerleader any of us could ask for.
Every moment of her life was met with love and gratitude, with pride in her family and unwavering faith. She’ll be remembered for her sassy quips, her take no prisoners attitude, for always making sure everyone was fed, loved and happy. She put everyone before herself and loved her family fiercely.
The quiet, simple way she lived her life has shaped each and every one of us. She forged the path that we walk, lived the values that she instilled in us, and have made us the close-knit family we are today. She’s looking down on us, knowing that we’ll carry her love in our hearts, tapping her feet to the country-western music that she loved so much.
The late Sharron Oliphant is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 4:00-7:00p.m.
