OPP officials allege: Two traffic stops in St. Clair Township have resulted in impaired driving charges.
On Aug. 23, 2026, at approximately 2 a.m., members of the Lambton County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop on Brigden Road near Oil Springs Line in St. Clair Township.
As a result, a 52-year-old individual from Chatham was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus and operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs.
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Oct. 1, 2026.
On Aug. 24, 2026, shortly before 2 a.m., members of the Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 40 near Oil Springs Line in St. Clair Township.
As a result, a 19-year-old individual from Wallaceburg was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and dangerous operation.
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Sept. 21, 2026.
Members of the public are urged to report impaired driving by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
