The Lambton Kent District School Board has launched a new Student & Family Support Office, a centralized resource intended to help students, families, caregivers and community members access information, navigate concerns and connect with supports across the school system.
The office aligns with direction from the Ontario Ministry of Education to strengthen parent and caregiver engagement and ensure families have clear pathways to seek information, support and resolution when concerns arise, the board said. It is meant to serve as an additional point of contact for families, fostering positive relationships between home and school while enhancing communication and transparency.
The board said it recognizes that students achieve their best outcomes when schools and families work together, and that the new office was established to provide a welcoming, supportive and accessible resource for families seeking assistance, guidance or information about their child’s educational experience.
The office can help families navigate board processes, access available resources and connect with appropriate staff or departments to address questions or concerns. Whether families are seeking information about student well-being, attendance, transportation, special education supports, school procedures or other board services, the Student & Family Support Office is available to help guide them in the right direction.
Families and community members are encouraged to learn more about the office and the supports available by visiting the Student & Family Support Office webpage at lkdsb.net.
