OPP officials allege: A chemical spill has prompted road closures in the Municipality of Leamington.
At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Essex County OPP were notified of a chemical spill at Highway 77 and Mersea Road 7.
Essex County OPP, along with the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of the Environment, Leamington Fire Services and the Fire and Spills Action Centre, are on scene investigating the chemical and the cause of the spill.
Highway 77 is closed from Mersea Road 6 to Mersea Road 8, and Mersea Road 7 is closed from County Road 31 to Mersea Road 12, during the investigation and cleanup.
Essex County OPP thanked the community for its patience and cooperation during the closure. Updates will be provided when they become available.
