The Sombra Museum will host a special edition lecture on the life of Sam Dunseith on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. Admission is $10.
The lecture will be hosted by Darrell Randell, who will share some of Dunseith’s best stories from throughout his life. Organizers say the stories range from horrifying to hilarious, and all are expected to be of historical interest and value.
Dunseith was a farmer, construction contractor, Second World War veteran, Sombra councillor and honourary citizen of France. He was shot down over France during the German occupation and managed to survive the crash, making his way back to friendly territory.
Dunseith later relocated to Sombra Township when he was hired as a road superintendent in the 1970s. In 2004, he returned to France one final time, where he was made an honourary citizen.
The lecture will take place at the Sombra Museum, 3470 St. Clair Pkwy.
