Sarnia Fire Rescue Services responded to a structure fire on the 100 block of College Avenue North on Monday morning, just before 7:30 a.m.
Three occupants were home at the time of the fire and were alerted by working smoke alarms. All three safely evacuated the residence, and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire and damage estimate have not yet been determined.
Sarnia Fire Rescue said the incident is an important reminder that working smoke alarms save lives, and is encouraging residents to test their alarms regularly and ensure there is a working smoke alarm on every level of their home and outside all sleeping areas.
