Wallaceburg District Secondary School took part in several events marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, with the school saying its community remains committed to learning, reflecting and taking meaningful action.
Retired Indigenous NHL player Jason Simon joined students to share his journey of strength, perseverance and determination. Students also took part in a virtual painting session with Indigenous artist Moses Lunham and joined the local Healing Walk. Classrooms and hallways were filled with learning, reflection and creative displays honouring Indigenous history and culture.
“We are dedicated to doing our part today and every day. We remember and honour those who never made it home. Every Child Matters,” the school said in a statement.
