LKDSB invites students to apply for School Ambassador Program

The Lambton Kent District School Board is inviting students to apply for the return of its School Ambassador Program, building on the success of last year’s inaugural initiative.

Under this year’s theme, “Social Media Takeover,” student ambassadors will create photos, videos, reels and other content that captures the spirit of their school communities, shifting the program’s focus from filmmaking to social media storytelling.

“Students experience school in ways that no brochure or promotional campaign ever could,” said Caress Lee, public relations officer for the LKDSB. “The School Ambassador Program gives students an opportunity to share those experiences through their own perspectives while developing valuable leadership, communication, creativity, and digital media skills.”

As members of the Social Media Takeover Team, ambassadors will collaborate with peers from across the board, take part in mentorship and media training opportunities, and learn to create engaging, inclusive and responsible digital content. Students interested in photography, videography, graphic design, social media or communications are encouraged to apply.

The program includes a virtual launch event on Oct. 15, mentorship and media training from communications professionals, and an end-of-year recognition celebration.

Applications are open from Oct. 1 to Oct. 9. Students can learn more and apply through the LKDSB website. Selected ambassadors will be notified in mid-October and will take part in the program’s virtual launch event on Oct. 15.
