Nearly 16,000 Chatham-Kent residents vote in advance polls for municipal election

Nearly 16,000 Chatham-Kent residents have cast ballots in the 2026 municipal election through internet voting and advance in-person polls.

A total of 15,994 residents have voted so far, representing 17.78 per cent of eligible electors.

Internet voting set a record, with 12,313 ballots cast online. That surpasses the previous record of 9,787 set in the 2018 municipal election. In-person advance voting drew 3,681 residents, the highest in-person advance turnout in Chatham-Kent since 2014.

Residents who have not voted can do so on Monday, Oct. 26. Election Day voting is in person only, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Electors must vote at their designated location, which is listed on their Voter Information Notice. They can also find it using the Where Do I Vote tool at ckelection.ca.

Eligible electors who need to be added to the Voters’ List or update their information can visit any Chatham-Kent municipal centre during regular business hours until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 26. They can also update their information at their voting location on Election Day.
