Linck asks Chatham-Kent residents to wear purple for Dress Purple Day on Oct. 29

Linck Child, Youth and Family Supports is inviting Chatham-Kent residents, businesses, schools and community organizations to take part in Dress Purple Day on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The province-wide campaign is led by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies. This year’s theme is “It Takes a Community.” The agency says the campaign highlights how strong community connections, trusted relationships and early access to supports can help families before challenges become crises, and that every child and youth has the right to safety and well-being.

“Supporting children and families is not the responsibility of one organization alone. It takes all of us – neighbours, educators, caregivers, service providers, employers and community leaders – working together to ensure families know where to turn when they need support,” said Marianne Willson, Linck’s board chair.

Linck provides child and youth mental health, developmental services, youth justice and child protection in Chatham-Kent. It encourages people to wear purple on Oct. 29, share the campaign’s message on social media, build partnerships across schools, health care, social services and businesses, and learn about local resources.

“Sometimes, support begins with a conversation, a caring adult who takes the time to listen, or someone helping a family find the right service,” said Teri Thomas-Vanos, Linck’s executive director. “When we build those connections across Chatham-Kent, we help create a community where children and youth know they matter and families feel they have somewhere to turn.”

Anyone concerned about a child or youth can call Linck at 519-352-0440, which is staffed 24 hours a day. More information is available at linck.org.
