About 35 firefighters from all six St. Clair Township fire stations responded to a barn fire on Kimball Road on Saturday.
Firefighters were called to 3472 Kimball Rd. at about 1:44 p.m. on Oct. 31 and found the single-storey barn fully involved in flames, Fire Chief Richard Boyes said.
“Our tanker shuttle protocol was once again put into operation to ensure a continuous supply of water was available to suppress the fire,” Boyes said. Crews contained the fire to the barn and kept it from spreading to nearby outbuildings.
No occupants or animals were hurt, and the cause is considered accidental. A portion of Kimball Road was closed during the fire, and crews cleared the scene at about 5:15 p.m.
“I am extremely proud of the teamwork demonstrated by firefighters from all six stations,” Boyes said. “Everyone worked tirelessly under challenging conditions, including the labour-intensive work of moving steel and debris to access areas of the structure and extinguish the fire.”
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
