An estimated $500,000 damage was caused after a fire at 20866 Mull Rd. in Harwich Township on Friday.

Firefighters from station #18 in Blenheim were called to reports of smoke issuing from the roof of a house at 11:54 a.m.

“They arrived to find a developing fire which was moving quickly through the structure,” fire officials stated.

“They quickly called for assistance from other stations to provide pumpers, water tankers and an aerial tower to fight the fire. At the height of the fire, four tankers were running supplies to the scene to ensure firefighting efforts. In extremely cold conditions, at times with a strong wind driving the fire the crews worked both internally and externally to extinguish the fire.”

Fire officials say the cause of the blaze is still undetermined and under investigation.

Approximately $750,000 worth of property was saved.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say no injuries occurred as a result, and the cause of the fire was deemed not suspicious.
