Christmas cards for veterans
A grand total of 1,056 Christmas cards were gathered last month by the Our Lady Help of Christians Sunday Friends leaders and children, to be sent to veterans locally and across the province.
The group doubled their goal and filled three boxes with cards.
A total of 34 cards made by children were left with the Wallaceburg Legion for their home visitor to deliver.
135 cards were delivered to veterans in residence at Parkwood Hospital in London and 887 cards were sent to veterans in residence at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
The group wanted to thank the volunteer contributors:
– Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre staff and members
– Veterans of the Wallaceburg Legion Br. 18
– Wallaceburg Dental Clinic staff
– Homeward Realty
– Walmart
– Student at St. Elizabeth Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School and Pure Dance Academy
– And parish members of all three churches of the Holy Redeemer Parish Cluster
Lightning and thunder in January?
Did anyone else notice the thunder and lightning last night?
I think it was the first time in my life that I remember seeing and hearing it in the month of January.
Apparently it isn’t a sign of the world coming to an end… it’s a real winter weather phenomenon .
