The Chatham-Kent Police Service surrounded a home in Chatham on Friday after a witness spotted someone with a gun.

Police officials say on a resident of Chatham observed two men walking around a residence with a ‘long gun’ strapped to his shoulder and called 911.

Officers responded quickly and were able to establish a perimeter while officers approached the home and investigated the weapon allegation in a safe and methodical manner.

Five young adults were located inside the residence along with a replica BB-gun that matched the description given by the witness.

No criminal charges were laid in this incident.

In Canada’s current security situation it is prudent to take into account the perception of others when dealing with replica weapons or legally owned firearms.
