The Chatham-Kent Public Works Department is requesting the assistance of all residential property owners to clear the snow off the sidewalks and add de-icing chemicals such as salt to treat the slippery areas.
This request for assistance is a result of changes made to the Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards O. REG. 239/02, which requires the clearing of all sidewalks of snow and ice within 48 hours after a winter storm has ended.
This issue will be brought to Council in the coming weeks for further discussion and deliberation. Please refer to Council agendas for specific timing.
