Lambton OPP: Rollover crash, impaired driving, avoiding RIDE check

Rollover Crash

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 25, 2021 at 8:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a single motor vehicle collision on Oil Heritage Road near Michigan Line.

Officers attended and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. A roadside screening device was then administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to an OPP detachment where they provided two samples over the legal limit.

A 17-year-old of Bothwell has been charged with:

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 15, 2021.

The accused cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Erratic Driving

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 23, 2021 at 7:40 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on St. Clair Parkway near Bickford Line.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

A roadside screening device was then administered.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to an OPP detachment where they provided two samples over the legal limit.

A 29-year-old Petrolia man has been charged with:

– Operation While Impaired and,

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 16, 2021.

Avoiding RIDE Check

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 25, 2021 at 2:10 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint on Broadway Street in Wyoming when they observed a vehicle make attempts to avoid the interaction.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

A 42-year-old Plympton-Wyoming man has been charged with the following:

– Operation While Impaired and,

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 30, 2021.
