Cocaine seized, cruiser damaged during an arrest on Walpole Island

Lambton OPP officials allege: On October 28, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., members of the Walpole Island Police Service (WIPS) initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle which was being driven in an erratic manner on River Road North.

Officers identified the driver, who had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

The individual resisted arrest, but was taken into custody.

Suspected cocaine was located in the individual’s possession on his arrest.

While in custody, the individual also began damaging the WIPS police vehicle.

A 43-year-old Walpole Island First Nation man has been charged with the following:

– Resist Peace Officer,

– Uttering Threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts),

– Failure or refusal to comply with demand,

– Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine and,

– Mischief over $5,000.

The accused has been released following a bail hearing on October 29, 2021.
