Update: Youth arrested following threat investigation at Petrolia high school

Lambton OPP officials allege: A 16-year-old from Plympton-Wyoming has been arrested and charged with Uttering Threats and Mischief following an incident that took place at Lambton Central Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCCVI) High School in Petrolia last week.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022 Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the high school to investigate a threatening message that had been scrawled in one of the washrooms.

An investigation was conducted by Lambton County OPP School Resource Officer (SRO) with assistance from members of the Lambton County OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services.

As a result of the investigation police were able to identify and arrest the accused during the evening of June 6.

The youth has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia at a later date.

The OPP recognize the importance of school safety and how a threat of this nature can be difficult for all who are affected.

The OPP take these incidents very seriously and will continue to work closely with the school boards to help identify the individuals responsible when these investigations arise.

Criminal charges will be laid when suspect(s) are identified in these matters.

If you observe suspicious behaviour or threatening messages while in a public place, workplace or school, call 911 immediately.
