Traffic stop leads to charges

OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chatham Detachment has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On August 25, 2023, at approximately 9:33 p.m., a member of the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on St. Clair Road near Claymore Line, Municipality of Chatham-Kent following a licence plate status notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with:

– Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

– Driving while under suspension

– Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on October 23, 2023.

A 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Three-day suspension

OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment has issued a driver a three-day suspension following a traffic stop.

On August 27, 2023, at approximately 4:28 a.m., a member of the Chatham Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Bloomfield Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent after it was found speeding.

The investigating officer detected signs of alcohol consumption from the driver and administered a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test, registering an Alert.

As a result of the investigation the driver, a 36-year-old of Chatham, was charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

Additionally, the driver was issued a three-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).

Warrant executed

OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chatham Detachment conducted a traffic stop that resulted in an individual being taken into custody.

On August 27, 2023, at approximately 11:29 a.m., an officer of the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near the 73-kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, following a wanted persons notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

The investigating officer determined the driver of the vehicle had an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Windsor Police Service and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

The accused, a 32-year-old of Gravenhurst, was transferred into the custody of the Windsor Police Service to satisfy the arrest warrant.
