Municipal officials say the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Dufferin Avenue will be closed from September 5 at 7 a.m. to September 15 at 7 p.m. to allow for the replacement of infrastructure in the intersection.
This work includes the replacement of the existing watermain and traffic signals.
“The posted detour for Highway 40 traffic will include the use of Base Line, Old Glass Road, Mason Street and Arnold Street,” Municipal officials say.
“Two lanes of traffic on Dufferin Avenue will remain open from Walnut Drive to the closure at the McNaughton Avenue intersection. Chatham-Kent is committed to working with Birnam Excavating to maintain a safe and orderly worksite. All efforts will be made to reduce the impact on the surrounding areas and businesses. Access to all properties and businesses on Dufferin Avenue will be maintained at all times.”
Road work on Dufferin Avenue from McNaughton Avenue to Walnut Drive is expected to be completed in 2023, with restoration to be completed in Spring 2024.
