Organizers are busy preparing for the annual Terry Fox Run, taking place this year on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
“On April 12, 1980, Terry started his Marathon of Hope; No Matter the distance, No Matter the obstacles, No Matter the journey, No Matter the odds… NO MATTER WHAT,” organizer Brad Eggett shared on social media.
“This September 15th we continue the Annual Terry Fox Run, No Matter What!”
Eggett added: “As many of you are now familiar, my participation in the annual Wallaceburg Terry Fox Run has become the highlight of my year. I take pride in participating in the Terry Fox Run, knowing the money raised helps many people who have been affected by cancer. In May of this year I found out I too have cancer, leukemia (CML – chronic myelocytic leukemia) and am so appreciative of the Terry Fox Foundation as they strive for treatments of cancers including blood cancers.”
Eggett said this year marks the 44th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run and it will be his 29th year of participating in the event and him and his wife Moira’s 8th year of coordinating the event for Wallaceburg.
“The Terry Fox Run raises money to help fight cancer and to raise awareness for cancer in communities,” he added.
“Wallaceburg’s Terry Fox Run is a community event run by wonderful volunteers and attended by many dedicated participants. Not only does it raise money for research, but it also continues to share the story of Terry Fox.”
Eggett added: “So, in saying this, I am again (more than ever) requesting your generous support towards my individual fundraising efforts as I venture into my 29th year of the Run. Donations can be made at New Vision Optical Centre or by logging onto the Terry Fox Foundation website and searching out my individual sponsor page, or click this link https://run.terryfox.ca/page/bradeggett and use a credit card/PayPal. If you have any issues with this site – please contact me and I will assist.”
If you would like to donate to another individual or team or just to the Wallaceburg site (#109) log onto the terryfox.org website and search under donate, Eggett added.
“Thank you in advance for your consideration – I appreciate your support,” Eggett said.
