Driver found to be ‘three times the legal the limit’ after a crash in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 12:25 a.m. on November 23, 2024 a resident in the area of Indian Creek Road West in Chatham heard a loud bang.

The resident believed it was a motor vehicle collision and contacted the police.

Police arrived in the area of Lacroix and Indian Creek West Chatham and located a pickup in a tree area attempting to reverse and leave.

The driver of the pickup was immediately arrested at the scene for impaired.

A 43-year-old Charing Cross man was taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters where he was found to be three times the legal the limit.

The man was charged with Impaired operation and 80 plus and released when sober with a future court date of December 9, 2024.

The man had gone straight through the intersection without stopping and we are grateful no other member of the public was hurt.
