Residents of Walpole Island First Nation are being encouraged to take part in a community-wide clean-up effort in honour of Earth Week, which runs from April 20 to 26.
Organizers say the initiative is a chance for community members to get outside, help beautify shared spaces, and make a difference for the environment.
Cleanup supplies, including grabbers, gloves, garbage bags and sharps containers, will be available at the Governance Building beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. Supplies will be distributed through to Friday, April 25.
Participants are also invited to submit videos or photos of themselves cleaning up around the community. Submissions to the “Walpole Island First Nation Council” Facebook page will be entered into a draw for prizes.
The event is part of a broader effort to promote environmental stewardship and community involvement on Walpole Island.
