From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
Back on April 1st a baby boy was born, one of approximately 368,00 others also born that day.
But Carter Michael Gaudreau, the third child of mom Meredith, did not have his dad with him in the delivery room.
That’s because his dad, former NHL hockey player, Johnny Gaudreau, was killed by a drunk driver seven months prior.
Three months earlier, Meredith’s sister-in-law, Madeline, gave birth to her first son, just four months after the death of her husband, Matthew, in the same drunk driving incident.
The two brothers had been out on their bicycles the day before their sister was to be married.
Neither lived to see the birth of these boys.
Meredith Gaudreau announced her pregnancy at Johnny’s memorial service back on September 9, 2024.
His middle name is the same as his dad’s.
Meredith Gaudreau was overjoyed with the birth of this baby boy and exclaimed on Instagram, “I love you so much, my baby! We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life, my special boy forever.”
Yes, Mothers’ Day will be very different this year for Meredith and Madeline, but in the wake of the tragic deaths of their husbands, God has given them joy in the birth of these precious children.
Psalm 30:5 says, “Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
To all our moms out there today, may the Lord bless you and give you great joy in your divine calling!
