Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 31-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a St. Clair Street business on Dec. 8.
Police say the man entered the store around 1:38 p.m., selected several items and attempted to leave without paying. Store security stopped him before he exited the building.
Officers arrived and arrested the man. He is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a court date of Jan. 5, 2026.
