OPP officials allege: A transport truck fire slowed traffic and briefly closed a section of Highway 402 in the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe on Monday afternoon.
On December 22, 2025, at approximately 12:34 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police and the Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department were dispatched to Highway 402 eastbound, east of Kerwood Road, for a report of a vehicle on fire.
Police say the driver safely steered the truck onto the shoulder, where the vehicle began to smoke and subsequently caught fire. Emergency crews responded, resulting in traffic delays in the area, and the highway was briefly closed at Kerwood Road while responders worked at the scene.
The vehicle has since been removed from the roadway, and traffic has resumed. No injuries were reported.
