Dog stolen during Wallaceburg break-in recovered by police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged after a break and enter at a Wallaceburg home that resulted in a dog being stolen.

Police responded to a residence on Webb Street on Jan. 16, 2026, at about 8:51 p.m. Investigators determined the man entered the home while the owner was away and stole a dog from inside.

Police located the man nearby with the dog, which was recovered. He was charged with break and enter of a dwelling house to commit an indictable offence and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a court date of Feb. 26, 2026.
