Man charged after commercial break-in and foot pursuit in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges following a break and enter at an abandoned building in Wallaceburg.

Police were called to Wallace Street on Jan. 17, 2026, at about 7:52 a.m. after a man was seen inside the building. Officers located him on the roof, and when they attempted to speak with him, he jumped down and fled.

After a foot pursuit, the man was arrested. Police say damage was caused to a police cruiser during the arrest. He was charged with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and mischief under $5,000. He was released with a court date of Feb. 18, 2026.
