Driver charged after alleged refusal in Wallaceburg traffic stop

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A driver has been charged after police say a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on Greenbriar Trail in Wallaceburg on Feb. 16, 2026.

Police say that at about 10:53 p.m., an officer observed the traffic violation and attempted a stop. The driver continued into a nearby driveway, refused to provide identification and attempted to flee into a residence.

The individual was arrested and charged with resisting a peace officer, failure or refusal to comply with a demand and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. Police say the accused refused further testing at headquarters and was later released with conditions and a court date of March 5, 2026.
