Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service have completed specialized peer support training aimed at strengthening mental health and resilience within the service.
The training was delivered through the Wounded Warriors Canada Peer Support Fundamentals Program, with funding provided by the Mental Health Support for Public Safety Personnel grant.
The initiative was led by the service’s health and wellness co-ordinator and focused on equipping participants with tools to recognize stress, support colleagues and manage the challenges associated with trauma-exposed work.
Police say the program also addressed strategies for transitioning between work and home life, while promoting overall emotional well-being among members.
Officials say the training reflects the service’s ongoing commitment to supporting its personnel, with the goal of ensuring officers can continue to serve the community safely and effectively.
