The Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse Association is inviting girls aged nine to 12 to try the sport as the organization works to grow the girls’ game in the community.
The association is hosting training sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dresden Area Central School aimed at introducing new players to lacrosse in a supportive environment.
Organizers say the sessions are designed for beginners and will focus on learning the fundamentals of the sport while encouraging confidence, teamwork and friendships.
“No experience? No problem! These sessions are designed for beginners and new players who want to give lacrosse a try in a supportive, encouraging environment,” the association said in a social media post announcing the program.
Participants are asked to bring a helmet, stick, gloves and clean running shoes.
The association says the goal is to build interest in girls’ lacrosse locally and encourage young athletes to get involved ahead of the upcoming season.
“Our goal is to grow the girls game in our community, and we would love to see more athletes come out and be part of the excitement from the very beginning!” the association said.
Registration for the upcoming season remains open. Email technical@wallaceburglacrosse.com for more details.
