Chatham-Kent council has approved the next phase of development at the Bloomfield Business Park, awarding a $1.38-million construction contract to Clarke Construction Inc.
The project will extend municipal infrastructure along Seventh Line West to support continued growth and future business development within the business park.
“Continued investment in the Bloomfield Business Park helps ensure that Chatham-Kent remains ready for new business opportunities and job creation,” Mayor Darrin Canniff said. “Expanding infrastructure within the park strengthens our ability to attract and support economic development along the Highway 401 corridor.”
Phase 3 of the project includes extending sanitary sewer servicing and upgrading the existing gravel portion of Seventh Line West to a paved rural roadway with shoulders and drainage swales. Additional utilities, including overhead hydro, street lighting, natural gas and telecommunications services, will also be installed.
Municipal officials say some trees located within the right-of-way along Seventh Line West will need to be removed to accommodate the road and infrastructure upgrades. However, the adjacent municipal tree lot will remain in place and will not be impacted by the construction.
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026, with the project anticipated to be completed in late summer 2026.
