OPP officials allege: Police say an arson investigation has now been linked to a homicide in LaSalle as investigators continue to search for answers and ask the public for help.
The Ontario Provincial Police and LaSalle Police Service have taken over a Windsor Police Service arson investigation as part of the ongoing homicide probe.
Officers responded to a report of a person in medical distress at a residence on Todd Lane at approximately 9:30 p.m. on March 3, 2026. Police located a 45-year-old Windsor woman with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing. She was transported to hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Investigators later determined that the same residence had been the scene of an arson on Nov. 8, 2025. Police say surveillance footage shows an unidentified male exiting a vehicle, pouring a liquid substance onto the front porch and igniting a fire before fleeing the area.
Police say the arson and homicide involve the same victim, and the LaSalle Police Service, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, has taken carriage of the arson investigation to explore any potential links between the two incidents.
Whether the individual captured in the surveillance video is connected to the homicide remains unknown.
The homicide investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Investigators are asking residents and businesses in Windsor, LaSalle and Tecumseh to review any dashcam, doorbell or surveillance footage from March 2 and March 3 that has not already been shared with police.
Police say they have received multiple tips following the release of the surveillance video and thanked the public for its cooperation.
