The Walpole Island Fire Department is inviting community members to apply for its volunteer firefighter training program as part of a new recruitment effort.
In a public call for applicants, the department is encouraging those interested in serving their community to take part in the opportunity, which includes professional training and certification.
“Are you interested in serving your community? Receiving professional training and certification? Being part of a historical team of heroes?” the recruitment notice reads.
Officials say priority will be given to WIFN Band Members during the hiring process, offering them an opportunity to receive training and certification through participation in the department.
The initiative is also being promoted as a potential pathway into a firefighting career and related fields.
“This is a great way to start your career in Firefighting and beyond!” the notice states.
Those interested are asked to complete the WIFN Volunteer Firefighter Training recruitment and interest form and are encouraged to share the opportunity with others.
